Tapestry - Sacred Music from the Past to the Present

The Archdiocesan Festival Choir of Atlanta will present "TAPESTRY", a varied concert of sacred music ranging from the 16th century up to the music of our own time. The featured work will be Georg Philip Telemann's German Magnificat, to be performed with chamber orchestra and soloists. Also included will be music drawn from the treasury of great sacred music by some of the most influential composers the world has known. Works by the Renaissance master Tomas Luis Victoria, the famous Russian pianist/composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, the quintessential Englishman Herbert Howells and the romanticist Felix Mendelssohn, who celebrates the 200th anniversary of his birth this year, will be performed.
